MANASSAS, VA — The Manassas Republican Party headquarters was vandalized on the night of July 4, according to the local political party.

The party shared photos of the party's headquarters at 9016 Center Street with the word "Fash" spray-painted on the front window. The front door and lock were also spray-painted.

The party said volunteers had spent more than 100 hours getting the space ready for July 4 and thanked volunteers who helped with cleanup.

"These acts will not intimidate us—they will only strengthen our resolve to elect Republicans who are committed to confronting the rise in crime and restoring safety in Manassas," the party said in a statement.

The party filed a police report at the Manassas Police Department. Anyone with information about the incident can contact Officer Bowden at 703-257-8115.

Several Democratic Manassas City Council members shared statements condemning the vandalism.

“Political violence or extremism, by anyone at any time, has no place in our society," said Vice Mayor Mark Wolfe in a statement via the Manassas and Manassas Park Cities Democratic Committee.

"This act of vandalism is disgusting and disturbing," said Councilmember Ralph Smith. "For me, it only strengthens my resolve to work to ensure that our city remains safe, welcoming, and every resident is valued and respected. As I recently stated, I have full optimism and faith in our nation’s humanity. We can find unity again."

"This type of behavior has NO place in political discourse in Manassas," said Councilmember Tom Osina. "The vandalism of signs, literature or buildings are not appropriate ways to campaign’."
