MANASSAS, VA — While the June primary election will decide Democratic candidates for City of Manassas elections, the Republican Party has announced its candidates for the general election.

City of Manassas voters will cast votes for mayor, three City Council seats and three Manassas School Board seats in the Nov. 5, 2024 election. U.S. Senate, U.S. House and president will also be on the ballot.

Xiao-Yin (Tang) Byrom is running as a Republican candidate for mayor. Byrom is an immigrant from Taiwan who started the business Tang's Alterations Bridal & Bespoke in Manassas and has been involved with the Rotary Club of Manassas.

For City Council, Robyn Williams, Lynn Forkell Greene and Stephen Kent will be the Republican candidates.

"Our City of Manassas is a special gem in Northern Virginia for people to live, work, and enjoy. They deserve strong, effective leaders who put residents, families, and small business first," said George Ellis, chair of the Manassas City GOP, in a statement. "Our elected officials are voted into office to serve the people, be fiscally responsible, while governing the city with common sense to keep the lights on."

Democratic Mayor Michelle Davis-Younger has already announced a re-election bid and is unopposed in the party. Davis-Younger was first elected as mayor in 2021 after being elected to City Council in 2019.

Three Democratic City Council candidates will be chosen through the June 18, 2024 primary election. Candidates are Ashley Hutson, Tom Osina, Mark Wolfe, Samantha Tungul and Anthony McGhee.

The Republican and Democratic primary ballots also include a primary to choose candidates for the 10th congressional district. Current Rep. Jennifer Wexton (D-Leesburg) is not seeking re-election after receiving a progressive supra-nuclear palsy diagnosis.

Candidates in the Republican primary for the 10th congressional district are Mike Clancy, Alex Isaac, Aliscia Andrews and Manga Anantatmula.

Democratic primary candidates include Eileen Filler-Corn, Suhas Subramanyam, Atif Qarni, Dan Helmer, Marion Devoe, Krystle Kaul, Jennifer Boysko, Adrian Pokharel, Michelle Maldonado, Mark Leighton, David Reid and Travis Nembhard.

There is also a Republican primary for U.S. Senate to determine a candidate who will challenge Sen. Tim Kaine in November. Candidates include Hung Cao, Eddie Garcia, Jonathan Emord, Chuck Smith and Scott Parkinson.
