Party Canvass of the Manassas City Republican Party of the Republican Party of Virginia
Saturday March 28th, 2026 from 10am to 2pm.

As Chairman of the Manassas City Committee of the Republican Party of Virginia and pursuant to the Manassas Republican Party Plan (By-laws) and as recommended and directed by the Unit Committee, I, George Ellis, do hereby issue this Call for a Party Canvass to be held at the Manassas City Republican Headquarters, 9016 Center Street Manassas, VA 20110, or its alternate site, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 28th, for the following purposes:
Electing a Unit Committee Chair;
Electing up to 150 Members of the Unit Committee At Large;
Electing up to 225 delegates and an equal number of alternate delegates to the 10th District Convention, to be held on Saturday April, 18th 2026 at 10:00 am at a location to be announced for the purpose of electing a District Chair and for the transaction of such other business as may properly come before the convention.
Qualifications for Participation
All citizens of the United States who are legal and qualified voters of the City of Manassas under the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, regardless of race, religion, national origin or sex, who are in accord with the principles of the Republican Party, and who, if requested, express in open meeting either orally or in writing as may be required their intent to support all of its nominees for public office in the ensuing election may participate as members of the Republican Party of Virginia in its mass meetings, party canvasses, conventions, or primaries encompassing their respective election districts.
Candidate Filing Requirements
Candidates for Unit Committee Member, and/or Delegate must declare their candidacy in writing using the accompanying official filing form, along with a non-refundable filing fee of $60 ($30 if applicant is under age 30), and $25, respectively.
Payment can be made by cash or personal check made out to “Manassas City Republican Committee” and enclosed along with the official filing form. It must be mailed to 8665 Sudley Road #224 Manassas, VA 20110 and received by Wednesday March, 11th, 2026 or delivered in person at the GOP Committee Meeting on 6:30 PM, Wednesday March, 11th, 2026 at the Old Towne Sports Pub, 8971 Center St, Manassas, VA 20110 (post marks do not govern).
Candidates for Manassas City Committee Chair, must provide additional written intent to seek this office along with a filing fee of $500. It must be mailed to 8665 Sudley Road #224 Manassas, VA 20110 and received by Wednesday March, 11th, 2026 or delivered in person at the GOP Committee Meeting on Wednesday March, 11th, 2026 at the Old Towne Sports Pub, 8971 Center St, Manassas, VA 20110 (post marks do not govern).
Balloting
All persons wishing to participate in the Manassas City Party Canvass must present themselves between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM to check-in and vote. Those in line at the close of the Canvass shall be permitted to check-in, but no one shall join the line after 2:00 PM. In order to receive a ballot, the voter must present a valid, non-expired photo identification issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia, one of its political subdivisions, the United States government, or a United States college or university. A statement of intent, properly completed and signed by the voter or stated verbally, must be provided at the time of Party Canvass check-in. No ballot will be given to any voter who has not signed and submitted this statement of intent or delivered the statement of intent verbally. No absentee voting, proxies, or provisional ballots are permitted. No registration fees are required for voting in this Party Canvass. Votes will be counted only for those candidates whose names appear on the official ballot. No write-in votes will be permitted. The Canvass will elect candidates by greatest number of votes received.
Cancellation Provisions
If fewer than the maximum number of candidates file for any specific position, all verified filers will be elected automatically and the canvass will be cancelled. The time and place of the canvass may be changed as warranted; updated information will be available online at www.manassascitygop.com.
