Welcome to the second monthly issue of our newsletter series designed to keep City of Manassas Republicans informed about committee activities, accomplishments, and opportunities to get involved.


MAY 13 MEETING RECAP


Our second meeting of the new term was held at Old Towne Sports Pub following the motion adopted at last month’s meeting. A quorum was confirmed. The meeting followed the new standard format, including the Republican Creed, committee reports, updates from elected officials, and a guest speaker.

  • Lincoln-Reagan Gala Success

    • Members reviewed eight recent committee activities, highlighted by the first annual Lincoln-Reagan Gala held jointly with the Prince William County Republican Committee.

    • More than 300 people attended, including 28 members from the Manassas Republican Committee.

    • The event raised more than $2,000 for the committee and featured keynote speaker Larry O’Connor of WMAL.

    • A professionally produced gala program was shared during the meeting for members who could not attend.

  • Executive Committee Motions Approved

    • Five-minute time limit for committee reports

    • Ten-minute time limit for guest speakers plus Q&A, with extensions allowed by approval of attendees

    • Approval to operate a July 4th “Celebrate America 250” booth in Old Town, managed by the Fundraising and Events Committee

    • Simone Redington reported that ten volunteers signed up to help staff the booth

  • Committee Reports

    • Reports were provided by Ben Walters, Eric Brescia, Simone Redington, and Wes Williams

    • Committee chairmen were asked to submit draft budgets for review at the next Executive Committee meeting

  • School Board Update

    • Dayna Miles and Sara Brescia provided an update on Manassas City Public Schools

    • Dayna distributed a summary of unfunded school system needs

  • Guest Speaker: Ben Bookwalter

    • Ben Bookwalter spoke about the role of data centers in the Manassas area and their importance to regional and national infrastructure

    • He discussed how data centers support many everyday technologies and services

    • The discussion generated strong audience engagement and questions from attendees

  • VA-10 Congressional Candidates

    • Dave Beckwith and Sam Wong have qualified as Republican candidates for Congress in VA-10

  • Local Candidate Recruitment

    • The committee is still seeking candidates for City Council, Mayor, School Board, and Virginia House District 20

  • Loudoun County Republican Committee Senate Debate

    • Saturday, June 6 at River Creek Country Club in Leesburg

    • Check-in begins at 10:30 AM

    • Tickets available at LoudounGOP.win

  • 10th Congressional District Debate Forum

    • June 17 at Belmont Country Club

    • Check-in begins at 6 PM followed by a candidate meet-and-greet and debate

    • Moderator: John Fredericks

    • Volunteers are needed for check-in and event support

    • Suggested debate questions may be submitted to Mike Clancy at info@vagop10.org

  • Bull Run Republican Women’s Club

    • Carol Fox continues to invite Republican women to join the club

    • The Bull Run Republican Women’s Club is hosting a Paint & Sip event from 2-5 PM on June 6 at Giuseppe’s Restaurant, 15110 Washington St. in Haymarket. Tickets are $50 at the door via cash, check, or credit card.

    • The committee is seeking volunteers for the following positions:

      • Parliamentarian

      • Volunteer & Membership Recruitment Committee Chairman

      • Precinct Operations Committee Chairman
