Hello fellow City of Manassas Patriots. Welcome to the third monthly issue of our newsletter series designed to keep City of Manassas Republicans informed about our activities, accomplishments, and where we need your help and participation.


JUNE 10 MEETING RECAP

  • Recent Activities

    • We reviewed six activities completed since the May newsletter.

    • The mid-term judicial appointment process was successfully completed for Michael Turchetti, our new Electoral Board member. Congratulations, Michael!

  • Headquarters Committee Update

    • The Executive Committee began reviewing the proposed HQ Committee budget.

    • Wes Williams provided an update on committee activities.

    • Amalfi Arias and Zach Murphy were recognized for donating the large American flag and 250th Anniversary flags now displayed at headquarters.

  • School Board Update

    • Sara Brescia provided a School Board update.

    • She also introduced Raoul Campbell Verde and Javanese Hailey as new independent candidates for the Manassas City School Board.

  • Highlight of the Evening: Guest Speaker Eric Brescia

    • Eric reviewed five housing-related bills passed during the 2026 legislative session in Richmond:

      • SB 531 – Accessory Dwelling Units

      • HB 888 – Parking Minimums Near Transit

      • SB 74 – Affordable Housing Authority

      • HB 1279 – Faith in Housing

      • HB 655 / SB 346 – Manufactured Housing Parity

    • The presentation generated substantial discussion and numerous questions, demonstrating strong interest in the topic.

  • New Business

    • Fourth of July Booth

      • Staffing is needed from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

      • The $100 booth fee has already been paid.

      • Please consider volunteering for an hour to talk with residents about what it means to be a Republican, especially if you signed up with Simone Redington last month.

    • Membership Recruitment Flyer

      • The Executive Committee approved funding for a new membership recruitment brochure designed by Zach Murphy.

      • The brochure will be available in both English and Spanish.

      • Distribution is expected soon.

  • Announcements

    • Lynn Forkell-Green and Colin Turner announced their candidacies as independent candidates for Manassas City Council and requested your support.

    • Sam Wong has withdrawn from the Congressional race.

    • Two additional candidates have qualified for the Republican primary in Virginia's 10th Congressional District:

      • Dave Beckwith

      • Julie Perry

      • Anthony Suttles

    • 10th Congressional District Debate Forum

      • Date: June 17

      • Location: Belmont Country Club

      • Check-in begins at 6:00 PM.

      • A candidate meet-and-greet will precede the debate.

      • John Fredericks will serve as moderator.

      • Volunteers are needed for check-in and other event support.

      • See the attached flyer for additional details.

    • We are still seeking candidates for Mayor of Manassas and Virginia House District 20 Delegate.

An extremist zero-safety abortion amendment will be on the ballot this November. Join the movement to stand for life. Learn more here.

  • June 16: Filing deadline for independent City Council and School Board candidates with 125 signatures.

  • June 17: 10th Congressional District Candidate Debate Forum at Belmont Country Club. Check-in begins at 6:00 PM. See attached flyer for details.

  • June 18: Early voting begins.

  • July 1: Deadline for July newsletter and calendar submissions.

  • July 8: City of Manassas Republican Committee Meeting at Old Towne Sports Pub. Social begins at 6:00 PM, business meeting at 7:00 PM. Guest speaker: Dave Beckwith, Candidate for Congress (VA-10).

  • July 28: Celebrate America 250 featuring former Governor Glenn Youngkin and constitutional law scholar Professor Jonathan Turley. Location to be announced.

  • August 1: Early voting ends.

  • August 4: Primary Election.

  • August 5: Deadline for August newsletter and calendar submissions.

  • August 12: City of Manassas Republican Committee Meeting at Old Towne Sports Pub. Social begins at 6:00 PM, business meeting at 7:00 PM.

  • September 2: Deadline for September newsletter and calendar submissions.

  • September 9: City of Manassas Republican Committee Meeting at Old Towne Sports Pub. Social begins at 6:00 PM, business meeting at 7:00 PM.

  • September 26: Manassas Latino Festival at Harris Pavilion, 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM.

  • October 7: Deadline for October newsletter and calendar submissions.

  • October 14: City of Manassas Republican Committee Meeting at Old Towne Sports Pub. Social begins at 6:00 PM, business meeting at 7:00 PM.

  • November 3: General Election.

  • November 4: Deadline for November newsletter and calendar submissions.

  • November 11: City of Manassas Republican Committee Meeting at Old Towne Sports Pub. Social begins at 6:00 PM, business meeting at 7:00 PM.

  • December 2: Deadline for December newsletter and calendar submissions.

  • December 9: City of Manassas Republican Committee Meeting at Old Towne Sports Pub. Social begins at 6:00 PM, business meeting at 7:00 PM.
