Hello fellow City of Manassas Patriots. Welcome to the fourth monthly issue of our newsletter series designed to keep City of Manassas Republicans informed about our activities, accomplishments, and where we need your help and participation. Please also sign-up for the District 10 newsletter!


JULY 8 MEETING RECAP

  • Meeting Highlights

    • We reviewed recent committee activities, including a recap of the 10th Congressional District Debate between Dave Beckwith and Julie Perry.

    • Robyn Williams reviewed the recent meeting with Assistant City Manager/Police Chief Keen.

    • Vice Chairman Kenny Loveless reported on the success of our Fourth of July booth.

    • Communications and Social Media Committee Chairman Ben Walters summarized recent updates to the committee website.

    • Sara Brescia provided a School Board update.

  • Guest Speaker: Dave Beckwith  

    • Congressional candidate Dave Beckwith discussed several policy priorities, including:

      • Creating a 5% income tax rate for income up to $200,000 to help Americans pay off student loans and invest in their future rather than creating another government program.

      • Indexing capital gains for inflation.

      • Expanding technical education, career education, and apprenticeship opportunities to meet growing demand in the skilled trades.

      • Promoting school choice to provide families with additional educational options.

  • Announcements

    • Tom Murphy paid tribute to the late Paul Ebert, former 13-term Commonwealth's Attorney.

    • Congressional District Chairman Mike Clancy announced the upcoming Celebrate America 250 event featuring former Governor Glenn Youngkin. He also encouraged everyone to watch the 10th Congressional District Debate video at https://vagop10.org/.

    • Former Chairman George Ellis announced upcoming campaign events including Cones with your Councilmember on August 2 and Cookies with Community on September 13 supporting the reelection of Council Member Theresa Coates Ellis and emphasized the need for door knockers.     • Michael Turchetti announced that he was officially sworn in as a member of the Electoral Board and was elected Chairman of the Electoral Board.

    • Early voting is underway and continues through August 1.

    • The Primary Election will be held on August 4.

    • The deadline for August newsletter and calendar submissions is August 10.

    • Robert Zimmerman announced his candidacy for the open Virginia House of Delegates District 20 seat and asked for support.

    • Treasurer Edenhart announced that the Celebration of Life for Paul Ebert will be held on Saturday, July 25, at 11:00 AM at the Hylton Center.

OUR NEXT GUEST SPEAKER

  • Our August 12 meeting will feature former Virginia House of Delegates member Ian Lovejoy. His presentation will focus on the terrible proposed Virginia constitutional amendments that will appear on the November 3 ballot.


NEW CANDIDATE ANNOUNCEMENT

  • Former Republican candidate for Manassas Treasurer Nate Fritzen has announced his candidacy for the open Virginia House of Delegates District 20 seat and requested your support. The Legislative District Committee for House District 20 will soon announce the process for selecting the Republican nominee.
