Stephen kent for City Council
Stephen Kent has been a Manassas City resident since 2020 and is a candidate for Manassas City Council. After first moving to Manassas in 2016 from North Carolina, Stephen Kent, his wife Melony, and their daughter, Sylvie, decided to lay down roots and buy their first home in Manassas' Bristoe Station neighborhood. Stephen holds a Bachelor's in Political Science from UNC-Greensboro and has built a career in public relations, broadcasting, advocacy, and political writing for a national audience.
He authored a 2021 book for Hachette, How The Force Can Fix The World, about Star Wars cultural legacy since 1977 and how political polarization can be healed by a shared popular culture. Stephen is a dedicated Assistant Scoutmaster for Boy Scouts of America Troop 671G of Nokesville, VA, Northern Virginia's most active all-girl BSA troop. He dedicates his time there to teaching Scouts the Communication, Journalism, and Public Speaking merit badge, as well as outdoor skills such as backpacking and rock climbing.
Stephen is passionate about mentoring young people in the Manassas area, and along with his wife, homeschools his teenage daughter. He is an active member of Chapel Springs Church, part of the Assemblies of God with roots in historic downtown Manassas and now situated in Bristow. On Manassas City Council, Stephen will be focused on affordability, mobility, and maintaining the natural beauty and green spaces of Manassas.
