Lynn Forkell Greene

Lynn Forkell greene for City Council

Lynn Forkell Greene is running for re-election to the Manassas City Council for her first full four-year term, having previously served for 14mos following a 2021 special election victory. During her abbreviated term, Lynn kept her campaign promises and worked closely with stakeholders, staff, and council members to develop more transparent community and workforce engagement processes.

With her unwavering commitment, Lynn successfully fought to reduce the personal property tax burden for all residents in 2022, a significant achievement that directly benefits our community. Thanks to her expertise in DE&I, HR, and organizational strategy, Lynn provided invaluable input to the budget process, further demonstrating her dedication to our community's well-being.

She vigorously defended green space in our city, ensuring our environment remains protected. Lynn advocates for the Greater Manassas Baseball League (GMBL) and continues to support a long-term solution for the league. Lynn strongly advocates for our students and teachers, supporting teacher salary increases, and pushes for mutual collaboration with the Manassas City School Board on other joint priorities.

Lynn, a Manassas resident for most of her life, got involved in public service when she helped a neighbor save Lee Manor Park. While attending council meetings concerning that issue, she became aware of the plight of East End Mobile Home Park residents. Lynn became fascinated with the inner workings of city government while assisting on those two issues and decided to get even more involved. Lynn decided to increase her volunteer efforts and joined committees.

She started as a member of the Parks, Culture, and Recreation Committee and eventually went on to serve as Vice-Chair. She was recruited to Keep Manassas Beautiful, where she also started as a member and eventually served as Chair before stepping down when she won her Council seat. Incidentally, Lee Manor Park was saved, and a fair and compassionate resolution was reached for the mobile home park residents.

In her professional life, Lynn is an Administrative Director for a nonprofit organization and has provided project management, business administration, and research support to global consulting firms.

As a council member, Lynn brings her extensive experience and unwavering dedication to our community. Lynn is a servant leader dedicated to making a positive difference for everyone in our community. She will promote responsible economic growth and innovative infrastructure investment while maintaining a solid commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainability. She is committed to transparency, fairness, and accountability and will always put the needs of our residents first. With Lynn in office, residents can be confident that they have a strong, experienced, and effective advocate working on their behalf.

Lynn and her husband, deeply rooted in our community, are proud parents of four adult children, three grandchildren, and a couple of granddogs. When they are not working, volunteering, or serving, they can be found spending time with family and friends, enjoying local events, or supporting local businesses in her hometown - our great City of Manassas. This personal connection to our community is not just a statement; it's a lived reality that drives Lynn's dedication to making a positive difference for everyone in our community.
